Frequently Asked Questions

  • I've never been around a horse, is this the right place for me?"
AP Equestrians welcomes riders of all levels. Whether you are taking your first lesson or your millionth lessons, we would love to have you!
  • How long are lessons?
Plan to be at the barn for a full hour for your 30 minute lesson and a full hour and a half for your 60 minute private or group lesson.
  • What do we do during inclement weather?
In the case of inclement weather, lessons will be moved into the barn and will focus on horsemanship. In extreme cases, lessons may be rescheduled to keep everyone safe.
  • What supplies do I need?
Long pants, close toes shoes with a heel (paddock boots). Helmets are provided for your first few lessons. Once your child decides to continue with lessons, we will help you find a helmet. All the rest of the equipment is provided.
  • How many times can I ride?
You can ride as much or as little as you want. Lessons are booked on a first come, first serve basis.
  • How old do you have to be to sign up for lessons?
Minimum age requirement is 4. The child needs to be able to successful communicate with the trainer if they are scared or need to use the bathroom. This ensures that everyone is safe and has a good experience.
  • I haven't ridden a horse in 20 years. Am I too old for lessons?
No. Lessons are for people of all ages. Taking lessons can be a really fun, low stakes way to decompress and not worry about the stress of life.
  • Can anyone horse show?
Horse showing is a great way to build confidence, develop skills, and make new life long friends. As long as the student meets the lesson requirements outlined in the Horse Show Requirement, all ages are welcome to join in on the fun.
